That looks like the butt end of the elk antler handle of my new knife! I recognize the 1800's copper penny. JD

That's a good idea, Ned. I like it. I have a fondness for those large cents and the two cent pieces. You're gonna have to show us the whole thing when you get it, JD. That's really cool.

It was JD'x fault, we got the deal done on the nife and the he comes up with he'd like to to have something on the hilt.

So I take measurements of the Elk crown and he comes up with this 1856 Penny that I had never seen one before! :o

About the size of a current .50 piece.

And by the way the coin is in awsome condition!!! :o :o

The way I remember it is Ned contacted me and said he would mount a coin on the butt end of the handle, if I had one. I dug around in a can of coins my dad left me, and came up with this really big copper penny in real great condition. I sent it on to Ned, who has mounted it to the knife handle. I'm looking forward to seeing the knife in person!

Ned VERY nice job and JD your lucky to be the owner of a knife like that.KT

JD Alan

Rick,, I seem to remember checking online for the value of the Penny, and it was between 21 and 60 dollars, depending on condition for that year's Liberty Penny. They stopped making them the next year.

OK it's finally done, if it wasn't for a sick Mother, a heart attack and a long slow recovery I would have had it done a couple months ago! ::)

So here it is JD, hope this is what you've been waiting for.

It has a satin finish blade so after much thinkin' I decided to do a satin finish Nickle/Sivler guard. Let me know what you think.
