I want to put a gated kirst on my pietta 51. The only problem is its a 44. If I remember the 60 army is the one I want. Can anyone confirm this for me? Also how well does the frame blue?
Thanks.

All C&B .44s are actually modern .45s.  So, yes the conversion for a .44 is usually in .45 Colt.  The frames are soft steel.  They blue very well.

I don't have the answer, but you may want to confirm the OAL of the cylinder on your "Navy" 44 vs. an "Army" 44.
I have an old Hawes .44 built on a Navy type frame, but the cylinder is a tad shorter than my present Pietta/ASM/Uberti .44 Armys.

FWIW, YMMV.

If you go Kirst's website it says the conversion cylinder for a Pietta 1860 .44 will also fit an 1851 Navy in .44. The conversion cylinder uses .45 ammo.
