Howdy Pards, I would like to have a Spencer in 44 Russian as a companion rifle for Uberti Russian pistols. Every one of my other CAS guns is in 45 Colt. The rifle I have to trade on is a Navy Arms 1873 special sporting rifle with a 30 inch barrel checkered foreend and pistol grip stock. It also has a Lyman, Creedmoore type tang sight. I bought this rifle used but dont think it was shot much by them and I have fired 6 rounds through it to establish if the sights were correct. From a rest at 75 yards holding a fine bead my first 3 shot group was 2 inches high and spread was covered with silver half dollar, 2nd group was 3 holes touching around size of a quarter. I would rate it 90 percent or better condition wise. If anyone is interested lets see what we can work out. Hope to join the SSS real soon. Thanks pards, Regret Chancy :)

Regret,

Go ahead and join SSS.  Just register above.  You can check Gunbroker.com for Spencers in 44 Russian.  The 44 Spencer Russian model has been discontinued by Armi Sport.

You might also try listing your trade on the SASS Wire if you are a SASS Member, as well as the Classifieds here on CASCITY. You'd be surprised what you might turn up. I know Gunbroker had a 44 Russian Spencer for sale last week. They wanted an arm and a leg for it, but they can be had. Good luck and if I hear of anything, I'll PM you.  :)

I have kept my eyes open for one on Gunbroker and in 44 Russian I have not seen one less than 1200. Most seem to fall into the 1200 to 1500 range but I did see one last week in 56/50 used for 850 or somewhere close. I just figgered I would cast a line here among people with a passion for them first. Would be willing to work the '73 mentioned above or a standard Sharps in 45/70 but it has had less than 18 rounds fired through it. I bouhjt it brand spankin new and would call it 99.5% condition wise. I have a surgery scheduled for in the morning so will not be checking computer until late evening tomorrow or in the AM Wednesday. Thanks, Regret :D

Hi Regret,

My sincere wishes for a successful surgery.

Regarding the .44 Russian Spencer.  Do a search on SSS.  Just type in Spencer .44 Russian .  You should get a total of 3 pages to read! Read the comments regarding the .44 Russian.  Some members have had their share of problems shooting it successfully.  Also try GunsAmerica.com for prices.

Take care,
