I am headed down to San Antonio for a week of training, and was wondering if there are any interesting shops down that way?  Leather, Western, etc....

I will have some time to kill in the evenings.

Camp Cook,

I was born in San Antonio, and my mother's family goes back to just post Civil War (or the War of the Southern Seccession, depending on how you view it *S*

The thing I remember is the great weapons collection in the museum in the middle of Breckenridge Park ... they even have one of the 250 Texas Ranger Colts that were chambered for Henry 44-40 so that the Rangers would only have to carry one ammo....

And ... this has nothing to do with cowboys or guns ... if they are finished with the restoration, the Japanese pagoda and sunken tea gardens are really worth stopping by ... but check before you go to the Tea Garden ... it may have not been restored yet ...
My moniker is my great grandfather's name. He served with the 2nd Florida Mounted Regiment in the Civil War. Afterward, he came home, packed his wife into a wagon, and was one of the first NorteAmericanos on the Frio River southwest of San Antonio ..... Kinda where present day Dilley is ...

Go to the Buckhorn Saloon on Houston St. It's where 98% of the Old West stuff is.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.
