Saw a Colt Storekeeper (4" barrel, ejectorless) at the gun shop today.  Pretty cool looking.  Is the Storekeeper suitable and legal for SASS?  What's the history behind these guns?  Any known pistoleros or lawmwn use these back in the day?

Thanks,

Also called the Sheriff's Model. They are SASS legal, it's just a SAA with a short barrel and no ejector system. I can't document any Lawman as having carried one but it could have happened.
Yes, I do have more facial hair now.

Dallas Stoudenmire was known to carry shortened 72 Open Top in a leather lined frock coat pocket ...when he was town marshall of El Paso.
Not an SAA, but significant the barrel was just over 2" long.

The Colt Sheriff's model meant it had no ejector rod assembly.  Barrel length didn't matter. I once saw an original Sheriff's model that was made around 1890 that had a 5.5 inch barrel.  The 3 and 4 inch barrels were more common on this model.
