Anyone have the 1863 Civil War Holster pattern from Hidecrafters?

I got it in the mail today, and the patterns themselves are reduced to 8 1/2" x 11" pieces of paper. There are no enlarging instructions that I can find. I was wondering if this is normal to have to redraw the patterns to the size you need? None of my other Jim Simmons patterns are this way, and a call to Ron at Hidecrafters confirmed that all his 1863 patterns seem to be this way. Ron is willing to work with me on it, but...
Any idea on the percentage I would need to make them correctly sized?
Thanks, DM

Howdy Dalton, just becuase i don't know how big are they supposed to be?Could one of them printer places blow them up to size?
Bunch a ole scudders!

Dalton Masterson

Yeah, they could, if I knew what percentage they needed to be blown up to. Right now we are fitting a 49 Colt or so. Maybe even smaller.

Dalton, I will dig around in the shop tomorrow to see if I can find the Simmons patterns that I have.  If I have this particular one I will let you know if the older versions suffered this problem.  It almost sounds as if there are perhaps a folded copy missing from your pack.  I assume they still come in a large zip lock plastic bag???

Dalton Masterson

Thats what I was thinking too Bob. I have a bunch of his other patterns, but this one has the folded one fit down to 1 small page.  They are now in a resealable sticky bag, but look pretty much the same as they used to.

Thanks for looking Bob.

Dalton, I do have that pattern pack and the main patterns are full size in mine.  As with all of Simmons older patterns there is included an instruction book.  A thought, you may be looking at the smaller overview patterns in the instructions and be interpreting those as under size patterns, while the actual patterns were missing??  At any rate there are two double size pattern sheets for the holster parts.  Sheets are 11"x17" or the size of an open magazine with the main holster body on one sheet and the flap plus extra assembly parts on the second sheet.  The pattern portion is the equivalent of four standard 8 1/2x11 notebook sheets...  I would definitely contact Hide Crafters and ask them to check another packet, just to be sure that yours is not an error.

If things do not work out with HC, contact me and we will figure out sumptin!

Dalton Masterson

Thanks for confirming that Bob. What I have looks just like the full size patterns, but its all squished down to 8 x 11". I will call HC again, and see if Ron can check some of the others.
I dont have it here with me at work, but I thnk it said Plate 1 Plate 2, or something like that on the bottom of the 2 pattern pages.

Hopefully HC will figure out something. When I talked to Ron last night, he said the others he had were the same way, small.

Dalton,

I may have that pattern...I am currently in Conn. so I won't be able to check until I get home next week..can you wait that long??  If not I may be able to dig up some info from my Ordnance manuals.

I can wait that long Outrider. No problem there. Got a project in mind for October time, but theres plenty of time for that yet.

If I had the overall measurements, I could probably use the copier and get it sized accordingly.

Then again, a flapped holster for an 1849 would be awfully cute. Be a good excuse to buy another pistol too. ;D

Thanks.

Ya Honey I need it so I can wet mold holsters around it and there aren't any "fake" ones made so..............

It seems like I've used that one before! 8)

Might be the reason I have about 15 cap and ball revolvers now........ Now this one is a Navy, and this one is an Army, so they are different. Then its the "well, I have one, and need a matched set so I can make 2 holsters" bit.

Glad I am not the only "victim" of this trend!
