Howdy Pards  :)
All most done with the Hollywood Rig, got some small stuff to finish, some burnishing left to do, and adding the leg ties. I had a lot of fun making this, I spent 1 or 2 hours most the days I got to work on it, and that made it less stress full for me!! This was a all around differnt experiment than any i have done before. The rig is made out of English Bridal Leather, 10-11 oz, It was hard to get it stained black! But the leather is awesome and I should off saved it to make a natural colored rig?? ::)
But of course Hollywood Rigs have to be Black! If I ever get so I can Cowboy shoot again I might wear this rig if the sun is shinning, maybe I will get lucking and blind all the compition so I might have a chance on placing pretty high! ;D ::) ;D lol.

It was fun, but I doubt I will ever make another for my self! ??? let me know what you all think??

Thanks Pards! :)
I realy enjoyed making it, but I still like double slim jim cross draw rigs! My next project will be a double slim jim cross draw for my 1851 US Marshalls . I want to carve the holsters, so i might not start on them untill WC comes and gives me some pointers! ;D
So I might try and carve a butt stock cover for my Rolling Block Rifle, that away I will get some practice and I won't worry about messing it up!

Thanks again for the Kind Words! Rick, I will get that sent off tomorrow! ;D

Hey Ace, that is a mighty fine lookin rig you've made for yourself. If I was shootin against you, the quality of your rig would have me worrin about how good you were!

I still have a lot to learn about this craft we call leatherworking. I don't have any idea what English bridle leather is, what the difference is between it and normal veg tan leather, or where a fella would get it if he were to want to use some.

I'm hopin someone can clue me in on this. Thanks, JD

Howdy Ace,

Outstanding!!!

It is sure great to see your work again. We are all very proud of you. Many thanks for sharing this with us.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

Ace Lungger

Howdy JD,  :)
When I bought that peice of leather I thought it was Latigo, but I ask the guy that I bought it from and he told me what it was. It is veg tanned, but it is oiled and treated, which gives it that Deep Brownish Red Color. It will stamp, it doesn't like to be cased, (won't hardly take water) but it stamps nice, and feels excellent!!
That is about all I know about it, and I hope that helps!
Thanks for the kind words Pards.

Hey, JD, Ya could always ask an Englishman, we know where ALL the leather is  ::)

ACE - glad you're felling better...but I almost had a heart attack for a minute - BRIDAL leather is a whole different supply catalog to where you get BRIDLE leather...thought you'd been branching out into a new product line there for a minute  ;D

Looking really good Ace.  I have seen some pretty expensive rigs that did not look one bit better.  I think you have a touch of the artist in you, keep nurturing it.

That rig looks really good, Ace. You got the look right. Very nice work.
