I know this topics been hammered since USFA first came out with the Rodeo--a fine pistol with an uncommon finish--and there's some great info on this forum about antiquing a Rodeo.  However, I'm curious if any of ya'll have buffed the finish with a cloth polishing wheel?  Did it result in a uniform finish? Did you get streaks or lines?

Do you have pictures of the results?

I'm thinkin' about trying it on my Rodeos, but I don't want to do anything to them until I have some idea of how it'll work.
Thanks!

Yes the rodeo will buff to a nice look . Sorry I don't have a picture . I traded that rodeo to a friend for a Premium Grade in 44 wcf .
Also if you buff the finish on that Rodeo it is Perfectly NCOWS legal .

Thanks, Rowdy. Wish I could see it--bet it looked good. Yep, NCOWS was a motivating factor behind my desire to change the finish.  I don't so much mind it the way it is, I just think it could be better for my purposes (and maybe someday we'll get an NCOWS posse down here in Music City).

Did you say you were from Music City ? The NCOWS National Shoot was at Evansville Ind. this past June .
The Rodeo will polish up nicely . You will like the shinny look .

::)Check out the post on March 2, 09, Matt finish underneath.  I posted pictures of my rodeos.  Use a medium cloth wheel chucked in a variable speed drill.  About 5 minutes per gun will give a nice polished blue finish.  Go slow and lightly.  Best of luck.  JD

J.D., Thanks! Exactly what I was looking for!  Great looking pistols!

Rowdy: Yep, Moosic City, Nashville. I shoulda watched more closely, it woulda been easy to get to Evansville from here.  Oh well, there's always next year (I hope!)...
