Howdy.

Yesterday, i was looking at a real Colt SAA 45 cal, with barrel 4 3/4 barrel, this gun was real nice and the owner has shoot mabye 100 shot's with it. After the info on this gun, it was made in the 1970'th The gun is nice and clean. After i look'td at it, everything working perfect, no problems at all.
He offer me a price 912.11$ dollars ( norwegian money 5500.- for it,) is that a good prise for a 3 gen Colt. ???

I have pay'd some money for it, to hold it. but it is worth the money.  ???

Gud dag, Capt. Call.

Sounds like an early 3rd Gen revolver.  If the insides are in good shape then it is worth at least $900 here in the U.S.  It might be worth considerably more in Norway or other parts of Europe.  A way to look at it is the prices of the reproductions.  What does a Pietta or
Uberti revolver sell for there?  A good source for the current prices asked, not necessarily paid, is www.gunsamerica.com.  That site has many categories of firearms, including separate listings for the different generations of Colts.  Also, some of the auction houses such as www.rockislandauction.com, which list prices paid in previous auctions are good sources of current values.  You can't go wrong with a Colt.

Good luck.

That is a hell of a good price.  Do the deal, you won't find a better one.

Thanks  pal's  :D
I have made up my mind, the deal is closed, i am a new HAPPY owner of a 3 gen Colt SAA 45 cal. 8) 8) 8)  I will put out some pictures of it, when the papers and payment is done 8)

There is a grip of black bakelite with colt emblem, and eagel with US flag in the bottom on both sides, in Mint collection ( not a scrath on them).
Is this grips standard on 3 gen Colt's ??........I don't now much about real Colt's, so i just have to ask  :D

Many Thanks
Call.

Capt. I've a Colt SAA . 45 LC 3 gen. myself. I bought it about 10 years ago and paid then Fl. 2750,-. what is now € 1248,--.Standard it have a wooden grip with a cold emblem with the Colt Mustang on both sides. The gun on top is the .45 LC, the other is a Colt SA .22 with a black backelite grip, like yours.

to silent joe, i have three colt 3rd gen. saa. 71/2" 45, 4 3/4" in 45 and a 4 3/4" in 44/40. shoot black powder and smokless out of them. you can't go wrong with colts. to gunclick, i have collected all the colt 2nd gen. cap and ball pistols. i own every one they came out with and i shoot them.here again you have the best  reproduction c&b pistols there are. try making combustable paper cartridges for them. thats the only way i shot my colt navy's and army's. theres one more thing to remember, there colts. some people will tell you that the other companys are just as good. thats true some are. but they are not colts. you have a real pice of history when you own a colt.it does make a difference to me. kurt250

St. George

That black 'Eagle' grip was resurrected in about 1978 or so.

Your serial number will be easy to check to tell you what year yours was built.

I have a 3rd gen Colt 44 that a friend bought new in the 70's. When he died I asked his son about it. He wanted a Colt .45 acp officers model. I happened to have one and ask how he would trade. He said since he had a hand tooled and lined holster to go with the .44, he would take my .45 and $50 bucks for the .44 and holster. I had to think on that for a while ( about 2 seconds) and took him up on the trade. His dad may have put a box of shells thru it. That was in '91 and I still have the .44. I haven't put many more shells thru it but, I do take it out just to look and handle it every now and then. Texas Toby ;D
PS: No I ain't ashamed, he got what he wanted and I got what I wanted. HEE HEE
