I just bought a mould that casts 8- .320's and 8- .380 balls, all at the same time. It doesn't have a sprue cutter, you just break the balls off the sprue. Leaves a bit of a nub but they should work OK. No worse than the Lyman moulds, they also leave a nub, unlike the LEE moulds.

Is that the Do-All mold?  I have one of those too.  The balls are not perfectly round, and the sprue is HUGE.  But they work fine for use as buckshot!

I would take a .454 and a .375 also.   Cornwell Kidd

It's not a Do-all, it was a custom group buy on the cast boolit forum,  made by a guy in Sweden. They are basically intended to be used in a shotgun but they work well in a C&B, which is what I bought it for. I would prefer to have 2 regular 6 cavity moulds, though, if they are of the LEE style.

Slim,

I shoot the .380's you gave me to try, yesterday. They were a little tight (nott that bad) and a little to hard but were as accurate as the Spears I was shooting.

Fiddler: I never could get the hang of throwing spears. Was always better at shooting arrows.

But seriously now, the Speer swaged balls are the softest. Seems casting lead hardens them up no matter how soft the lead was when you started. I assume it is because there is always a trace of other metals and it hardens when cast. Plus maybe your guns need .375 balls, some do.

Howdy Dick,

Put me down for .454. Thanks for the effort, I've been looking for a four or six ball mold for a long time.

Thanks Pards,

I'm keepin'  a tally.  It'll help me when it comes to the initial product run.  FWIW, I'll be using the same platform as all the other Big Lube® Professional molds.  Only difference will be the cavities.  Same handles will fit.

P.S.  It's still experimental and no promise is made just yet.

I would sure like to find a six cavity RB mould in 0.375....I't'd beat heck out of doing it two at a time like I have to do now :)!

I'll use 'em in the 1851 Navies.

I have one I got years and years ago for my Ruger OA that throws five little belted balls for ths pistol...
Don't know who made it but it makes bullets like a hunnerd bucks, and I'd sure like to have a similar one for the Round balls for the 1851's

DD,
I'd be interested in a .457 mold.

My dream would be one in .483, but I bet I'm the only one.

I have a 50 cal ML that likes 483 a lot better than 490.

Dick are you ready to start taking subscription payments?

Dick Dastardly

Howdy Pards,

There won't be a subscription as such.  I just spoke with my engineer/machinist and expect prototype mold blocks for test casting soon.  Following successful tests, I'll be ordering molds for inventory.  They will show up on my web site.  I may accept back orders if I can be sure to be able to fill them within Three weeks.  That's my outer limit.  I have some back orders now and I'm ashamed of not being able to fill them faster.

I have a problem with subscriptions in that the first payers have to wait the longest.  I'll do my best to keep my inventory up to date and well stocked.  This manufacturing thing isn't the same as ordering and waiting.  Takes a lot more sweat.

Please stand by.

REALLY?!? My CVA likes .490 balls with .010 patches for the first 6 or 7 rounds and then I go to .005 patches. A .483 would rattle out of the barrel!

Dick,
I'll take a .454 mold. It takes way too long with the DC LEE. Put me down for one.
Sheehs! Was away from the forum for a while and saw your pose for a 6 cav RB mold and pert neat bruised myself slappin' myself upside the head for drifting off for a few months.

Just to let you know that this project is still alive and well. . .
