I've read an article from Guns of the Old West concerning BP loads in the Smokewagon. Let's just say he found the results very encouraging.  ;D
I don't own a Smokewagon but it's on my Christmas Wish List! ;D
A work in progress.

Fellow I saw shooting a pair @ a shoot, seemed to prasied them to about anyone in earshot.
I don't normally shoot that range in fact it was my first time there.
The Gent, who I did not know was two ahead of me on the BP posse ( they have BP only posse )
I only saw him spritz one down once with Ballistol  on the 5th. of 6th. stages.

I shoot R&M's & Richards, I normally wipe with a Ballistol wet rag just as a habit after a stage of two...he did not seem to think it was needed....I just do it as I said "as habit" I began to think I over did It.

There was a guy there, who we think must have stock in Ballistol though , he would flood his SS Old Armies every stage.
I have to say though he was just a fastidious about all his stuff, everything neat and in order on his cart.
when planets align...do the deal !

Tanks guys , I did find the article in Old West Guns . That and the reply from M2 are just what I was looking for.

I shoot em, got a pair of Deluxe 38sp straight from Cody,  loaded up with 3f Schuetzen and a Big Lube Snakebite, they'll run all day. Leaves em smokin n chokin on the line. I also had Cody do my Cimarron Model Ps. I gotta admit I've had a hard time getting used to the wider sights. It ain't the guns it's me, anyone I hand them to with simular sights can blaze away with them. I started out with the old Model Ps with the thin blade and narrow notch, so that's  what I'm used to. The Smokewagons are excellent BP revolvers.

44-40 takes a back seat to no other caliber

Thanks Jefro,
All I've heard is good news. I have ordered a pair in 357 5.5 inch bbl. They will match my 73 in cal and I know by the look and information on them I''ll be more then happy with them.

Actually, the Smoke Wagon is just a Uberti with a little action tuning done on it.  It shoots as well with BP as any other Colt SAA clone.

These will be my first SAA type . I have been shooting and will continue to shoot 51 Navy R&M Conversions . Also Uberti. So as well as looking forward to the change I feel pretty good about the Smokies..
Tks

Just a word of advise.  If you order a pair make sure that Taylor has them in stock. I ordered a pair of 44-40s and was old it would be several weeks which turned into months which turned ino the guns had not even been produced yet in Italy. I cancelled the order and moved on. I hear there isn't a problem getting 38s.
