Good Evening, Gent's.
I thought I would show off my new-to-me 66. I bought this rifle from a fellow CAS shooter at last months match. Seems to shoot straight, didn't have any misses anyway. Anyway, here it is.

Looks pretty good to me, nice catch.

I have a 66 rifle that I like very much also.  Very nice condition.  Hope it continues to shoot straight for you.

What is the caliber?

Very nice.... King improved Henry   ;)

Is that by chance, the proverbial WOOD PILE so often mentioned in story and deed by parents of the misbehaved generation...?

when planets align...do the deal !

My favorite rifle next to the Henry. Veeman....what ever you do....don't ruin it by adding a short stroke to it.

Thanks for the kind word's fella's. The caliber is 44-40, as it should be. There will be no short stroke, didn't have them then, shouldn't have them now, IMO. The wood pile is out back of the house, waiting for a volunteer to come split it. (son?) Funny story, in the pic below you can see the live trap, which has been sitting there for a month or so, never catching anything, but set. I set the rifle down, reach for the trap to move it out of the picture. The damned thing starts rattlin & shakin, scaring the bejesus out of me. I swear, I jumped a foot, squeeling like a school girl. :-[ Finally caught the groundhog thats been digging holes under that pile all summer. For all I know it's been in there maybe 3-4 days. Wife thinks it was a young one, I think it's one less!

Very Nice, congratulations. I like your choice of weaponry and your thinkin' on non-PC mods.
Mine was about the same lookin' when new. Twelve years of BP and it now has a pleasant "patina" look to the brass receiver and furniture.

Beautiful rifle  8)    it was a big problem for me, when i have to choose between rifle or carabin type with saddle-ring, but after i had the time to think ( 2 week's )  :-\, i desided i want to go for carabin in 45 cal,  but it works for me, when i am out horsbackriding and in shoot-out.
Belive it or not..................... i have to wait for my 66 over one year  :P....and ITALY is'nt that fare from Norway......Amazing  >:(  phuuuhh. :-[

Captain....

Do you have links to your CAS web sites over there in Norway? By the way...love that saddle. I've built a couple myself.

Capain, that is a fine looking carbine. I have a Rossi carbine, without the ring, that I enjoy very much. I do prefer the looks of the full length rifle though.

Howdy Bill.

Yes,  http://www.swsnet.org/

I have never build a saddle before, but i'm thinking about it, my dream is to own a 1880 halfseat, real oldtimer.  8)

My first 66 rifle was in .45 Colt.  I didn't take to cowboy shooting right off, so I sold it.  When I came back into the fold, I bought a 66 and two Open tops, all in .44 Special.  Put the new short carrier in the 66 and shoot .44 Russian in all now.  The action on mine is plenty smooth from use and I think short strokes are for weenies!!  ;D

Same here!  After 2+ years of shooting in the ever-present dust-clouds at Piru, the action on mine is s-m-o-o-o-t-h.  I much prefer the carbine to the rifle, and take every opportunity to show it off.  Here come the pics again, y'all...   8)

Nice bead work. Where did you get the leather butplate cover? Or did you make it yourself?

Another shooter, Wilee One, made the cover for me.  It flattens out the slightly curved shape of the butt, making more like a shotgun, and is rough enough to "stick" in place on my shoulder.

I bought my Yellowboy carbine back in early '68. When they first appeared(made by Uberti for Navy Arms) they were all .22 LR, but soon became available in .38Spl. I bought it as soon as I heard it was available in centerfire. The serial # is 5XX. I originally paired it up with a Great Western SAA, but got rid of it because it was too damned heavy. A few years ago , I paired it up with a '61 open top which is just great.
