FEATHERS

Howdy All,I've just watched John Wayne's version of the Alamo,& am curious if anyone knows, if after the real battle the bodies of the (heroes)such as Crockett,Bowie & Travis were recovered & sent to their families. Thanks Feathers.

Major 2

The Defenders of the Alamo were ordered burned, accounts say some were disposed of in The San Antonio River.
The only defender allowed buried was Gregorio Esparza, by his brother.
Francisco Esparza a Mexican Soldado had pleaded with Col. Morales who allowed the burial.
In the  Pina' letters it states "Crockett, was exacuted by firing squad with 4 other defenders and burned."
when planets align...do the deal !

FEATHERS

Major, thanks very much for the info,I guess in a way the defenders would have still been honoured in their home towns or counties. Thanks Feathers

The story goes that Sam Houston spared Sant Anna's life, when Santa Anna gave the Masonic Distress sign to him. A painting of this event is displayed in the Grand Lodge of Texas Temple at Waco, Texas.
