Black Bear vs 45 Colt?

I rember a bear shooting from when I was about 8. An older cousin shot a deer, and was field dressing it when he was attacked.There was a large log between him and the bear. When the bear tryed to cross the log he shot him once with a 3030.the bear got right up and tryed again. I think he shot it 7[ 4 in the body and 3 in the head] times at hand shake range before it stayed down. the ranger who took the report sayed any of the shots would have killed the bear, but it stilled didnt know it was dead yet. he also said he wouldnt want anything less than a 12ga slug at close range. just my 2 cents

i wouldn't be scared what with my  trusty 45's loaded like some of the orig. 45 loads 40 gr of 3f black pushing a 250gr hollow base bullet.... besides with my lightning speed and bullsh......  i mean bullseye accuracy the bear would loose!!!!!!
