Hello!
I'm looking to cut down .45-70 brass to make .45-60's.  Specifically, Starline brass.  For anyone who has done this, do you have to anneal the case mouths after cutting them down?  Do .458 bullets seat properly, or is the brass too thick?  I'm looking to shoot it in an Uberti 1876.  Do you have to thin the case rims?  Thanks!

You shouldn't have any problems doing this.  I have a thread dealing with convrting .45-70 brass to .45-60 that will give you some insight on the results I got.  I haven't had any problems with the brass I've converted and I seem to hit everything I shoot at, so far.

Listen!  Do you hear that?  The roar of Cannons and the screams of the dying.  Ahh!  Music to my ears.

Thanks, Grapeshot!
I've made Spencer 56-50 cases from Starline .50-70 cases, and I had to anneal them.  Fortunately I didn't have to ream them.  It just took a while.

I cut down 45-70 brass for use in my Uberti 76.   Works fine in my rifle. :)

No need to anneal the brass.   I have not had to thin the rims for my rifle, but you might depending on your rifle and how close the head space is.  Good shooting! :)

I have trimmed down WW, RP and Fed 45-70 cases and shoot them in my 45-60 Uberti 76. They work good.

No need to anneal the brass...

Griz, if you don't anneal they will probably split at the case mouth soon. Also, annealing will give better groups due to uniform bullet tension with better crimps.
