When a person gets shut-in by something, be it medical or whatever, depression is such an unwanted but constant companion. Having been there myself, I would imagine that it would be very difficult not to feel a little abandoned by friends when a person can't even get to the computer. Then the downward spiral can just keep going unless someone or some people take the time to say, 'Hey, you're important to us! And we want you back!'. Could be far better medicine than anything a pharmacist can come up with.
