Uberti vs Winchester rifle magazine capacity?

Hello I have a question.

Why does cimarron/uberti 24" rifles only hold 12 rnds but according to this original Winchester catalog(see link) a 24" rifle holds 15 rnds, -1 in the chamber thats still 14.  Google didn't turn any thing up. So what gives, did I miss some thing?

I'm no authority, but it might be the length of the magazine end cap and the cartridge follower.  I'll bet that there is someone here with the real skinny!

Of course it depends on caliber and OAL, but a lot of those capacity specs are conservative.  For example, my 20" 44 Spcl will hold 12 I believe.

My 24" Uberti  '73 holds 14 44-40 rounds in the magazine, not 12. Dunno where they got their information, but I was just stuffing the mag to make sure.

My 24" original Winchester Model 1892 also holds 14 in the mag. Again, dunno where they got their information. Sorry, don't have an original '73 to test.

Basically, it boils down to the combined length of the magazine follower and the fully compressed magazine spring, as well as the Over All Length of the cartridges.
