The leftward drift if this group isn't the fault of USFA. It is sighted dead on at 25 yards. I have
a tendency to push the trigger when Ive been away from SAAs a week or so. The load is
7.5 Unique and the generic cast rnfp sold by most commercial casters.  Velocity is Mid 800s.

Well, It kind of is.  Not too long after they started making all the parts domestically, I ordered this revolver and wrote it up for gunblast.com.  USFA links to that article on their Pre-War window.

I had been shooting first and second gen colts a friend owns and the occasional Uberti and finally decided I needed a really good one for myself.  The choice was either a second generation colt or a USFA. The only thing Ive done to it is to replace the trigger bolt spring with a trapper wire. this reduced the pull to a few ounces under two pounds and this, along with finallly figuring out proper trigger finger placement, helps me overcome my left/low shooting tendencies. At first, I didn' much appreciate the wider front sight on the USFA (wider than late first and second generation colts but it works well for me.  I have no complaints about this revolver except that the shiney color case treatment sometimes flairs the sight picture for me in bright sunlight.  I can live with that.

NOW I remember!  that was a good article you wrote.
Changing out the springs is all I have ever done to any of my USFA's.  I use the Wolff reduced power main spring and the Heinie wire trigger/bolt spring.

Hello all, new member here.

Here's my new USFA.  I've wanted one of these for years and was finally able to pick one up a couple of weeks ago.  I've always been a Colt fan, but I have to say these are the finest single actions of the Colt style currently being made.  Smooth action, excellent trigger, perfect fit and finish as well as dead-on accuracy.  What more can you ask for?

VG, the Colt is an early third generation made in 1977.  I got lucky with that one, it shoots directly to point of aim and is very accurate.

Thanks, the leather was made by Tombstone Leather out of San Diego.  I have a matching holster for the longer barreled Colt.  I've had the rig for about ten years and I believe Tombstone is now out of business.

Howdy, folks.  Here is my pair of Rodeos.  They have consecutive serial numbers, simulated ivory grips by Ajax, and the antique finish was done by using Gulden's Brown Mustard. The Red River D on the backstrap shields was hand engraved.

Well, thank ya Mr. Cogburn. This will probably answer your question in the new member thread too - I'm very new to all this and found USFA through a search for single actions, because I always wanted one. Followed the link to SASS and CAS-City and was totally hooked by what I saw.  Figured USFA was making the best and set my sights on them and luckily found the three in the picture at a local dealer.

I like the Lightning a lot so far, but don't have much to compare it with. It seems to have a smooth action, and my groupings were pretty tight for a newbie. I love its low profile and how quick I can get off shots due to the pump action. But I've only had these for about a month.
