I would like to know if any of you have purchased the cleaning rod that goes into the butstock of the 1860 Henry?  I have read some of the past threads and it seems that there are two main suppliers: Bufflao Arms - they sell the 4 piece rod set with either a fixed slot tip or a screw in jag tip.  Do I assume that the more "correct" rod is the fixed slot tip?  And do the four section rods fit in the butt stock or are there some mods that need to be made?

Dixie sells a three piece Henry rod set and a four piece rod set for a Winchester 66 (the four piece seems to be the same as Buffalo Arms except less expensive).  Again, anybody buy either and did they fit without mods?

What say you?

I doubt this will help, but I bought my cleaning rods from VTI several years ago.  They are 4 piece rods with both ends.  I bought three, and called back to get another two, but some Turkey bought the last twenty VTI had in one swell foop.  I was irritated.

Anyway, my 4 piece rods fit without any modification, although there is sometimes a bit of "shake to fit" but they all do.

I plan to add a Henry butt stock to my '66 Trapper just so I can carry a rod in the butt.

I bought one of the Dixies '66/Henry cleaning rods.

It would not fit in the well on the Henry that I owned briefly. (It was/is a Uberti.)
