I thought some of you might enjoy these pics of a One of One Hundred engraved 1876.  Belongs to Mike Harvey (45-60 with 22" barrel), it was first antiqued and then sent to be engraved by Yves Halliburton (aka Have A Bourbon) of Savannah Gun Works.  The pattern was copied from a picture of an original.  Yves said one of the hardest parts was sanding off the "Centennial Model" roll stamped into the top of the barrel so he could put the One of One Hundred there.  He said it was stamped pretty deeply.  Not quite as ornate as the '73 One of One Thousand models that have animals in the pattern, but still pretty cool.  And here is a full-size view of the first pic below in case you want to see the detail better: Engraving Hi-Res

Beautiful! Is this an original, Uberti or Chaparral?

Found out that I was a bit mis-informed, so will correct the info.  Have A Bourbon got the idea from a '73, but the engraving pattern is his own.  And the rifle was engraved first, antiqued after.  Not that it makes a difference in how good it looks, just passing on the correction.   :)

That is a Great looking rifle. I got to look it over at Mule Camp and  I can tell you that Have-A- Bourbon can really turn a gun into a work of art.

what is the 'antiqued' finish you mentioned?

Abilene

Cimarron calls it "original finish" but many folks just call it antique finish.  The guns start out as standard finish blued/case-color and that finish is stripped off and the wood aged to basically make the gun look old.

Daaannnnngggg!  :)  That's a beautiful piece of work!  Thanks for posting the pics for us to drool over, Abilene.  ;D

I have seen the deluxe engraved 73, which I was told was factory done by Uberti.  Is Mike planning on putting an engraved 76 in the catalog?

Grizzly, they are just about to print a new catalog, but I think it will be mostly the same with newer products added (like the '76 carbines).  Really couldn't say if that engraved '76 will be in there.  As for Uberti engraving, Cimarron does still get some factory engraving done by them, but lately it is mostly laser engraving (which looks quite nice on yellowboys and Henries) and they are getting more and more of the "real" engraving done by Have-A-Bourbon, because he is very good and much quicker than Italy.  By the way, I think he told me it took about 40 hours to do that '76 (he told me it took 40 hours to do something, I think it was the '76 I was asking about .
