Lonesome George

Lonesome George, looking to join up.  1860 Spencer Carbine

Horsecavalryman

Hello! Horse Cavalryman here,   Been doin' that for a while.  Tried SASS back in the 80's and couldn't afford the ammo.  Spencers are really what brought U.S. Cavalry into the modern era. With some help from a yard of steel and the occasional belt gun.  I've ridden with
Spencer carbine on a sling and in the thimble. They weigh a ton and that's with blank ammo.  They work now just like then. The Johnny Rebs time their rushs to volleys from Sharps and don't take kindly to ya's emptying magazine in their last rush.
A "Gun Broke" horse will still start when you fire a carbine from the saddle.
My fantasy Spencer is only possible with Chiappa's centerfire action.
Have a good Ride!  I've earned my #4 slot (Horseholder)
Have A Good Ride!

Greetings, all! In trying to research a particular firearm in my late stepfather's collection, I have become obsessively interested in all there is to know about Spencers. I've spent the better part of the evening browsing threads and with all the expertise obvious on this forum I hope y'all won't mind me sitting quietly in the corner and hoping to soak in all your knowledge.

Hello Two Flints,

I just joined Cas City and would like to join your Spencer Shooting Society. I have ready a number of your very informative posts and was particularly impressed with your very gracious offer to look up serial numbers. I was hoping you would be kind enough to extend your kind offer to me for a carbine I just acquired: An M1860 Spencer Carbine Serial Number 37273. Any information would be greatly appreciated....Thank you in advance!

I have joined CasCity and would like to join the Spencer Shooting Society. I recently purchased a reproduction Cimarron/ArmiSport 56-50 centerfire Spencer Carbine. I would love to learn all I can and hope I can become a member of the Society.  Thanks very much.

Hi y'all:-)
New to CASCity and Spencers, but recently got my hands on one of the older US Model 1860 rifles. Would like to learn more about Spencers in general, and of course maybe get some help identify what I have :-)
Oh, I have an original Rogers & Spencer 44 percussion revolver too!

Thanks,
ShootingSean

Farmer4

Greetings all, just posting here as I have just sent the requisite email to Two Flints.  I'll hopefully be posting about my recently inherited Spencer Army Rifle once I fully approved.

I am a member of CAS and have a 1865 Spencer carbine that I am interested in converting to centerfire.  It has only 3 serial numbers.  I would like to join the SSS.

I am trying to learn what I can about my Dad's old Spencer Repeating Rifle, serial number 23,029.
He acquired it in 1958 while teaching at a First Nations school in Fond du Lac, Saskatchewan, Canada.
This is a remote, northern community.
The anecdotal story from the priests at the school was that the gun had crossed the Cda/US border with Sitting Bull after the Little Big Horn and was eventually traded north.
My Dad passed away a number of years ago and I never had the chance to speak with him about that.
Any information on the rifle would be greatly appreciated.
