ByeByeGuy

Hello ALL, ByeByeGuy here.

I have a Spencer which belonged to my great grandfather and would love to be able to make it usable and find as much info concerning this carbine as I can.

Thanks for your consideration.

I have just become aware of the Spencer group. I hope you can shad some light on a Spencer Carbine that has been in my possession for more than 50 yrs. It has the typical Spencer info on top of the breach and S/N 18XXX. These are the only markings on the carbine. I am not sure as to the year or the caliber.
Hope you can help with some information and historyof this carbine.
Thanks
Mdog

Howdy,
I'm looking around for a Spencer now, thought this would be a good place to learn the do's and don'ts.
I served in the late unpleasentness, did some scouting after that and then 25 + years as a lawdog.

Michael Johnson

Two Flints, I have come into a 56-56 Original Spencer Carbine. Dana (a fellow shooter in Poulsbo, WA) advised me that you could check on the serial number on the gun and maybe tell me what outfit it was originally issued to. It is 54540. It has a mirror bore with sharp rifling. The gun is in excellent mechanical condition. The gun has not been altered in any way. Thank you for any assistance. - Mike

TomS

Hi Folks:
I'm new to the forum. I have an old Spencer carbine from the Civil War, that belonged to a fella from the Pennsylvania Volunteers. I'll post some pics, and the military records as son as possible.

Overload Killkenney

 ;D
Howdy All
I would like to sign up
Overload Killkenney is my CAS moniker
I shoot in Canada (around Calgary Alberta)
I just picked up an 1865 SRC  Spencer Carbine
Serial Number 1401
20 inch barrel
56 50 I think , but it has rimfire and centerfire firing pins
I chambered a shortened piece of primed 8x50R Lebel Brass and set it off OK
but the blade extractor will not pick up the .622 Rim of this cartridge case
I see the Starline stuff has an even smaller rim
Perhaps 50/70 will work
Looks like I've got my work cut out for me to get this gun to function properly.
I'll do some reading around here to see if I can't figure it out.
PS
Does anyone know where to get a breech block spring (the big main one)?
thanks
