I posted a new topic of my first rig.
I don't think the photos came out.
So here they are. Let me know what you think.Remember it's my first.
This one went through.
I made this rig from a Tandy kit.My next one I want to make from scratch.
Any sugestions of some good books with patterns foe  some help building from scratch.
I was thinking of an Al Stolman book "how to make holsters"..
Any sugestions are well taken..

Real nice carving and the color is real pretty. Oh yeah, the burnishing is good too. :D
If I were you I would graduate myself on up to making my own patterns from the info in Al Stolman's Holster making book. Also, get ya one of them Packing Iron books.
Your ability and skill level deserves more than a Tandy kit can offer you.

The more you read and observe about this Politics thing, you got to admit that each party is worse than the other. The one that's out always looks the best.

Very nice rig, pard. The tooling is consistant and flowing. An outstanding first one. It'll be nice to see the next one.

Really great looking for your first build. Definitely experiment with your own design, it looks like you have an eye and hand for it.

Nice job Craftsman! Good looking tooling. You're certainly ready to move on to your own designs IMHO! I went online and googled old western holsters and found one I liked, so I downloaded a pattern and started cutting out from paper and fitted around my pistol. It was rough looking but functional. Check out Will Grommley's web site and get the book "Packing Iron". Keep up the great work!

Craftsman,

Everyone has said it before,  Nice Work!  Very Nice!
Yes you are ready to make your own.  Look at other holsters in books on forums anywhere and decide what you want to do for your first one.  You can do it.

That, IMHO, is a fantastic first rig, especially the carving. Like HP said, you need to move on to making your own. Anyone wold be proud to show that off as their work, first or any number. Thanks for sharing the pictures, JD

Howdy Craftsman,

Great job on your first rig! You will have a lot of fun building one from scratch and I know it will be a beauty. Many thanks for sharing your work with us. We look forward to seeing your next project.

I'd like to thank yall for the cool comments !
I'm definatly going to take yous sugestions.
I have another question.
What type of leather do you all use to line your gun belts.
On this Tandy kit I used some finished pig splits, very thin, about 1-1/2 oz.
I like to know what type you all use ????
Thanks again.....
