In one sense, I can't wait to get the Baikal back from the gunsmith and stop having the longest times of the everyone in the whole darn shoot!

Don't feel bad ... they time me with a sundial!

I'm so slow, I have to shoot warthog just to keep the timer awake!  ;D

By the way, Daniel, ya can use colgate on yer chambers, but don't use semichrome on yer teeth!  Did that once and I had to bite a lawyer just to get the taste outta my mouth!

Not to throw cold water but one of my friends has a TTN and the chrome is flaking from the inside of the mouths of the barrels.

Noz,
While it doesn't surprise me that a barrel made in China has a Hard Chromed bore, I have had 3 of the TTN '78s and none of them had a chromed chamber or bore.  Has he spoken to Walt about his problem?

I got one when they first became available, but the stock was so black and ugly I had to sell it and get one with prettier wood.  Then I finally tracked down one of the guns Walt had the color casing added and I bought it and sold my second one.  I have honed and polished all three using ball hones and I can guarantee you they were not chromed.  I used both chamber and bore hones.  You can use cold blue on any of the un-honed barrel bores and see whether or not they are hard chromed.

The Chinese factories have been known to use hard chrome to correct problems they had in manufacturing.  I have had to travel there to deal with such problems, and know first hand they will make "corrections" like that and not inform the customer (importer).  The factories that produce these firearms often produce other weapons where they intentionally hard chrome the interiors and as I said will resort to the process to deal with issues.

The gun has move on to another shooter so I don't have access to it any more. It sure looked to be chrome flaking.
