Thanks very much for all your support. When you are use to being active, slowing down is a pain in the butt. Sure am glad it was a mild one. By all I have read about it I am one blessed guy 'cause it could have been so much worse. I really appreciate the prayers. It is hard for a preacher to keep his mouith shut ! Typing with 1 finger isn't fun, but i better be careful which finger i use! Thanks again for your kind words and prayers. I may not write much, but i will be lurking in back and reading the posts.

WC, sorry to read that you had a spill on the bike. please be careful, lots of people are depending on you for instruction and inspiration. JD

Know that you have my prayers as well.  Over the years as a minister I've dealt with alot of folks who have gone through what you're going through, including my wife, who had an intercranial hemorage at the age of 30.  (The doctors assured us it wasn't a stroke, but the results were just about identical.)  Aside from the prayers, and brother do they ever work, patience is your bestest friend!  To mutilate an old saying, "Some men are born to patience, and some have patience thrust upon them..."  Or as my grandmother used to say - "Patience is a virtue, catch it if you can, seldom found in woman, NEVER found in man."  Of course the gender can be switched around ::)  At any rate, my prayers for a SWIFT and complete recovery, but in the meantime, be patient.
The progress that may be readily apparent to everyone else is much harder to see yourself.

Thanks for all the good thoughts and prayers. I am making slow but steady progress. I have posted my story, so far anyway, on Facebook, under Jeff Dorothy. I'm trying to get it up on our church website, www.sherwoodnewlife.org God bless all of you, you are a real encouragement. JD

Well, I got some good news from my primary care doc this Monday (4/13) It's the first time I've seen him since the stroke. He said people who have some recovery in the first week usually experience a full recovery. I've seen a lot of improvement since the stroke, and I continue to do the excercises they've given me. Thanks for all the kind words, prayers, and support, JD
