Ya know, I'd kinda like to have the USFA .44mag in graphite black. I love handgun hunting, and I bet these are some 'cream of the crop' magnum single actions.

I was a model 29 S&W guy forever. Has a basket of them.  Then kinda let handgun hunting go for the flintlocks..but with the new USFA's comming out,,,who knows...I could see me totin' a USFA .44mag out after deer,,,yes I can see it.

Didn't know what you were talking about so I went to their site and looked.  Nothing personal, and nothing against a fine gun, but i'd rather have the mumps than one of those colored things.

Nothing personal either, but If I can get a USFA .44mag to hunt with, I'll leave the mumps for you,,,,:) !

Heck, if you'll pay for my .44mag, I'll search around and try to FIND you some mumps !

The "black" finish looks the same as the Rodeo finish.

I guess I'm not sure what is so offensive about them to some...obviously the green and brown ones are ugly but the black finish would look fine.

BTW, Gary Granger on the USFA forum said that we should expect to see an high polish blue model in the future.  Then again we are supposed to see quite a few things "in the future" from USFA.

AJD,,I agree,,the black graphite 'Rodeo' type,,,would really be the one that would appeal to me. A polished and blued one would just be the tops..though..for hunting,,the matte finish is really good. I know this from using hunting handguns before. I 'might' even perfer the matte graphite black finish over the blue,,but probably not.

The design is a bit more 'eye friendly' than a super blackhawk.

And for hunting and not playing cowboys,,what would the color matter so much anyways ? They make no pretense at being a 'cowboy correct' revolver, but more a 'hunting' revolver.

I like'em,,,the design anyways.

Marshall,

I completely agree with you.  While I'm not a handgun hunter, if I was going to purchase a magnum caliber handgun, I'd definitely purchase one of these new USFA's.  After my experience with my other USFA SAA's, I couldnt' do anything else!

I know a lot of the folks on these posts have a strong aversion to them.  I understand that, as we are primarily focused on CAS type shooting, and they just don't fit in for that.  However, I think they will get a lot of attention from the more conventional shooters out there.  I suspect that the color choices will actually make them feel it is a more modern, and thus more acceptable, firearm.  After all, anything that uses anything approaching camo colors is very desirable these days.

The problem I do see with it is that USFA doesn't have guns stocked by most mom and pop local gun stores, so they'll have a harder time getting them seen by the average shooter.

I live 2 blocks from an elementary school one way and 2 more from a junior high the other.  Mumps we got.

I'll have to decline your generous offer.  :D

Too each his own, but if and when I use a handgun for hunting (and I have - see my avatar) I'd want adjustable sights.

Do the USFA's have adj. sights? I've never seen one, but there's lots I haven't seen yet  :)
