Most "style points" while shooting Fronteirsman

Howdy pards,

In your opinion, which would you think would look best (or that you would like to see most) of someone shooting Frontiersman.  I'm asking this to help male my choice of which revolvers will be my primary guns this year.  I'm shooting an external hammer coach gun and an 1860 Henry as my long guns, and for pistols it's either going to be a pair of Pietta US Marshals OR an Uberti Dragoon and a Pietta Lemat. Or maybe I should mix them up a bit?  Let me know what you think.

Double Walkers or Dragoons.

1851/1860s would work as well.

Dusty Morningwood

Double Lemats and use 'em on two of the SG knockdowns! ;D  Now that just oozes more style than most folks can handle.  :D

WV Scrounger

A pair of Lemats for sure!  style all the way!!!

Deadguy

Darn it! I only have ONE LeMat!   I'll have to see if the RO will let me use it on one of the SG knockdowns....or even let me load all ten shots and use it for all the pistol targets!

Hey Deadguy!  :D

Confirmed pistolero here...between the revolvers listed, I'd say the Dragoon & Lemat provide more style points.

Deadguy,
You specified Frontiersman so that sort of prevents the ULTIMATE in BP style points.  You can't technically shoot Gunfighter in Frontiersman.  If you shoot with a double fistful of pistols you are automatically relegated to Gunfighter class (unless you are meeting the requirements of B-Western) no matter what kind of pistols or powder you use.

Now there have been some matches which have had a category for Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter (Not Frontiersman Gunfighter), but it isn't a SASS category.  I really don't care, I shoot a pair of percussion revolvers Gunfighter Style in almost every match.  For the last several years that has meant 1860 Army models.

So I have strong opinion about the ultimate in style points.  That would be a pair of Walkers shot Gunfighter style, an external hammered double trigger SxS shotgun and either a Henry or an 1866 (actually a Henry wins in this case).

Level of difficulty...an 11 on the 10 scale.  4 pounds and 9 ounces each, that's over 9 pounds of pistols at a time.

So if you want to join the Frontier Gunfighter Group you can be member #2.  I know I am not the only one and definitely not the first, but I claim the membership number of 1 (whose gonna argue with someone crazy enough to be a Frontier Gunfighter?)

So..."you gonna pull them pistols or whistle Dixie?"

Deadguy - If one's looking for points I'd say a Starr SA with another cap-&-ball revolver (shooter's choice) and the icing on the cake would be a Spencer carbine w/BP cartridge. Smoke 'em up and re-load that carbine during the stage on the clock...!

CAS is a shooting sport but nothing says such fun shouldn't be injected into it - makes up for the profusion of smokeless shooters, Rugers and slip-thumbing. Nothing against all that but it's nice to see a BP guy step up to the firing line and your idea of 'style points' only makes it better, indeed.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I hadn't thought about the shotgun barrel on the Le Mats. Do that! Do that!.

Two Dragoons fully charged, and a Spencer 56/50.  Cavalry Uniform, preferably the shell jacket, high boots, spurs, sabre belt, M1860 light sabre (We don neen no steenkin' belt knife) and the dress Shako . . . You did want max style points after all. I reccomend leaving the sabre on the gun cart while shooting the stage.  A good cigar clenched in your teeth is a nice touch,  though best to be unlit while charging the revolvers.  Waving the sabre about and yelling "Charge" as you proceed to the next stage is always good. 8)

I would say a pair of Dragoons, or Walkers.

Myself, I shoot a pair of Starrs, when they are both working right.

Mako, I will gladly join your frontier gunfighter group! I shoot FUNfighter with my Remmys and on occasion with my 1860/51 combo.

Walkers have to be the ultimate

Slowhand Bob

I have a Walker and want a 3rd Model Dragoon but not sure if I could handle the weight for Gunfighter now days, I have heard the LeMat weighs up there also.  I haver the Pietta Marshalls and they are great shooters, as are also the short barl Remintons but I think the long barls will look cooler for this.  As already suggested, match these pistols up with a Henry Rifle and a hammer shotgun to create some cool smoke fro the locals.  Remember, with these type guns come a great deal of responsibility and one can not just wear anything with them!  The leather will need to be period to the Ts, holsters in the early California Slim Jim style with a heavy, but not to wide, leather strap belt without cartridge loops and nice period buckle.

Dick Dastardly

Just look at them arms on that Hick Town Sheriff, will ya.  Takes a real he man to shoot a brace of Walker 47s BPGF style.

You rock Chris.

A problem I see with the Lemats is after shooting the pistol targets how do you move over to the SG targets?

Dalton Masterson

Just hammer down on an empty chamber and move, same as a gunfighter.

Wow, this post came back from the deep. Fun topic though.

I've shot with a fellow 'Frontiersman' whose guns were a brace of Walkers alternating with a brace of stainless Ruger 'Old Armys' with Tiffany grips. His duds and leather (almost Steampunk) were first class 'Gentleman' and he certainly scored high on the points scale.
He had spare loaded cylinders for all to reduce the reloading chore.

He told me he'd never shoot Walkers again in that class. Just too much gun in a 10 stage match, and he was no wimp.

I shoot 'Double Duellist' in the category and I've played with 'Frontier Gunfighter', but find it takes more concentration than I'm willing to put into it.

Or for those not of fine voice sound charge on the bugle your post neglected to mention either carried or appended to the aforementioned cart.
