Howdy to all. I am going to have to redye the basket stamp belt I made for a buddy. He wanted it to have a somehwat faded look, with a background of burgandy or such. Well, it turns out it's not black enough, so I'm going to do it again. This time I'm going to use USMC black. I've tested a number of blacks, and he likes it the best.

After applying ox blood cut with alcohol, then black antiquing, I applied Lexol, then Bag Kote. What would be the best way to get it ready to dye? I have some Fiebing's Deglazing, and isop. alcohol.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, JD

I would use the deglazer and follow the instructions to the letter.

Thanks WC, though the directions are rather sparse. "With soft hand brush or cloth, rub Deglazer into leather until absorbed. Wipe off surplus and apply Fiebing's dye"

I'm surprised that there's no mention of Deglazer in their new booklet, "Fiebing's Fantastic Finishes"

In any event, I appreciate the advice, Thanks, JD

Howdy JD
I would wipe it down after the deglazer with some water and baking soda mix.
