.......in the bunkhouse but it's coming along pretty good. These belts sure use up the thread. This is the first hand sewn loop cartridge belt I have made in 35 years or so. I will finish antiqueing the loops to match the belt when I get all the sewing done.

Just more bunkhouse stuff,

Well, Horsepen, you might want to do some decoration on that! The plain belt is just so so, ya know! ;) ;D

That looks great!!! I like the look of that stamp on the belt. May have to try that out on my next one.

How wide is that?

That belt looks great.  Are you loops hand sewn?  Nice color and even stamping.  How much layout do you do in prep for the belt?

Do you measure a scrap piece of stamping to determine how wide the belt will end up, or do you decide the width and then decide on placement of the stamping?

Maybe a short how to on the belt would answer more questions.

Thanks for the pictures and keep it up.

Dalton: I am gonna put a little bit a decoration on this one. I have a couple a silver conchos and a bunch a spots that I wanna put on this one. ;D

Cowboy 316: I am glad ya like it. I thank you for the compliment.

Santee: I usually don't dye my thread but I did on this one because I intend to put a bit of patina on this one.

Johnny:
I use the template from Tandy to layout my grid for the background stamps and I use their background stamps too. I really like this particular background stamp. I see it used quite a bit on the old Packing Iron holsters and liked it right off. There is a holster in the inside cover of Packing Iron that I really admire. It is in the crease of the book so you can't really see all of it real good. That holster is what inspired me to make this belt.

XP, I had to drag out my copy of Packing Iron to check out that holster. I like it. I have one stamp to do the trick, the one like you used on your belt I'd need to pick up. The toe is hidden, I would imagine it is rounded & sewn closed. I don't think that holster shows anywhere else in the book. I also like the holster to the left of that one with the DA in it. It's really interesting with the basketweave in the skirt loop. I may have to make one of those. Damn, so many holsters, so little time. ;D

HP, great work man, I was gonna ask if you used artifical sinew to sew with until you said the thread was dyed. Your loops ,by the way, look perfectly spaced.  Don,t think I'm ready to try that yet.

Horse Pen, the maker of that holster seems to be W. Wellman of White Sulphur Springs, Montana. I've looked him up before and can't find anything. I agree, it's a nice stamp and you've done a fine job.

Thanks for all the kind words, gentlemen.
Skeeter, thanks for the info on Mr. W. Wellman of White Sulphur Springs, Montana. I would have counted it quite an honor to shake that mans hand. What a beautiful piece of work he did on that holster. I wish I could see some more of his stuff.

Hey Bill, bring yer saddle with ya to the convention this weekend if ya can. I would like to see it in person.
Wiley, thanks for the compliments. Here is another picture just taken this morning. I finally got all the loops sewed up and the belt edges slicked up and everything all finished up. Maybe a little more EVOO in a few days.
I still don't know if I wanna put some spots or conchos on it.  :-\

Pretty neat riveting, too.
