I have an oppertunity to buy an early 76, serial number in the low 800s. 45-75 open top. It has fancy checkered wood and about 20% gold wash left on the frame. The barrel has no original blue and just has old patina with no pitting. The checkering is very worn and is smooth in some place, but overall the wood is still pretty good.  The bore is rough but still has plenty of rifleing. The rifle is unmolested and unmessed with,  clean screw heads except for the tang screw which is slightly buggered. Can anyone give me more information on deluxe 76s and a possible price range?

As Grizzly said, I may be able to help.  I've had several deluxe '76,s with various features.  As far as value is concerned, are you looking for a guess or an honest opinion of the rifle you have?   I say this because anyone including me, can give you their idea of what the gun is worth, but without seeing some good photos, it would be impossible to give an honest value.  Do you have a Winchester factory letter on this gun?  If I had the serial number, I may be able to see exactly what features this gun had when it was shipped.  If I can help, please email me at rick@oldwestreproductions.com.  I'll see what I can do.

Adios,
Buck
