hey guys  i was gonna buy a maul but bout had a heart attack at the price so i got to thinking i could make one
got toi diggin round the family shop and found and old poly skid off one of my brothers critch rocket motorcycles
and did some brain storming on how i could turn it into a maul and this is what i came up with i add some double
00 buck shot into the poly piece for extra weight and got it to almost a pound will add more later
and the handle is just a heavy duty broom handle lol

I'd have to say bout 2 bucks  cuz the poly piece and the broom handle i had laying around and i had
some old double 00 buck shot in some old shot gun shells all i had to buy was the big washer and the
lag bolt and it only took me bout 20 minutes to put together

The rawhide mallet I use for stamping is only a few ounces. I have a heavy mallet for big stamps but like the smaller one for most work.

thanks guys for all the kind remarks i was just getting tired of beating the tar out of my stamps
and really couldnt afford the mauls they sell at tandy or at other places so i made due with what i
had
hoping to get some 3 inch poly pieces and make another one soon

cowboy, if you get a piece of that rod, drill a hole thru one and make it like a hammer. Then you have a maul, and a hammer, just like the ASB ones. ;)

Add a good handle, some fancy cast engraving bits, and we will all line up for Cowboy316 Leather Gear!

Cowboy 316,
I wonder if a skateboard wheel would work? I would love to have one of those mallets, but $80.00 is way more than I can Pay!
If anyone reads this, and can lead me to where I might find something to make the mallet head out of, please feel free to let me know!

Just a thought but you may get some poly casters from the local hardware store...canabilize the wheels from them and stack them together with epoxy glue...then sandwhich them between two large washers with a bolt.
