What would it take to replace the barleycorn front sight on my 1851 Uberti R-M Navy conversion?  It took a fall and it just ain't what it use to be.  Thanks for the help. :'(

If you're handy with a file, you could cut a dovetail and put in a new sight that way.

"Rifle", who used to post here in the past does a superb FS dovetail job on pistol barrels. It's the fastest and best way to get a correct height FS IMO and many Old West guns had dovetailed FS's. Personally, I think they look great if tastefully done and not "hogged out" with a 3/8" dovetail cutter, but rather a smaller more delicate cutter.

The "conversion" front sight that Uberti uses is also available. It is a taller brass cone with a threaded end. Pretty easy to file the old one flat, drill and tap.

Pitchers would be nice here.  I have never replaced a front sight an wonder what folks do when they cut down a barrel.  I seem ta understand the photos better than words.
