Today i got my stainless 'fluted' 1860 Uberti.
It's from 1974.

That has got to be scarce! Only seen a couple of stainless armies, never one with flutes.

Those are real nice lookin' shootin' irons. I don't think I've ever seen a stainless 1860 Army by Uberti. Thanks for sharing.

I don't believe Uberti made any stainless 1860 Armies as early as 1974. They did make some in the early '80s, and some of the parts for the 2nd Gen Colts; but, none of them were fluted.

Love the Henry. Very nice engraving job done on it.

I was of the same belief. I know Allen Arms sold some imported Ubertis in the early '80's that were stainless.

Lonesone Henry, no offense but how do you know it's stainless and not just "in the white"? I'm not asking you to do a copper sulfate swab test, mind you.

How do i know? I didn't know.They wrote it in the description.

Stainless, 'in white', now i'm a little bit confused.
A copper sulfate swab test?

Now i have to call Hege Uberti here in Germany.They must give me an answer.

That's where I was headed FCK; that it was actually polished in the white. The SS models that Uberti and Colt made in the 80s were completely stainless. They didn't have brass BS/TG. I have a stainless '51 Navy and 2nd Gen Colt '51 Navy and '60 Army. Colt only made 3 models in SS while Uberti made five.

While I havent tried it, I've been told another method for testing whether it is SS or in the white would be to try cold bluing it in an inconspicouos place. If SS it wont take.

I've seen, handled, and bought a number of C&Bs that were purported to be stainless, and weren't. I've got a Uberti 1860 Army right now that was advertised as being stainless and is nothing more than a stripped and polished pistol. Looks a lot like this one.

i have to apologize.
Just called Hege Uberti here in Germany and they told me that you were right.
It's NOT A STAINLESS, just ' WHITE FINISH'.

The first stainless they made were from the 80s.

So, it's not a STAINLESS fluted Army 1860 but an ordinary fluted 1860 Army in white finish.

Now, i have to make a serious conversation with somebody.

Simple solution, have it "Hard Chromed" or nickel plated to match that "awful" Henry

Pretty quick and non-marring way to tell stainless steel from carbon steel is put a magnet to it. It will readily stick to carbon steels and iron, won't with stainless.

Another option would be to have it flashed with copper then siver plated to match!

Lots of presentation pistols were silver plated as well as special orders and others. Most were embellished in other ways also, ie; engraving, grips, etcteras..........

Not sure what they are worth. Market varies from time to time, but was offered late last year $1200.00.
Mine are a cased set are yours ?

Nope, they came with just the hang tags, and were pretty inexpensive after i dickered with the previous owner.

1200 sounds really low, especially for a cased set, unless maybe if you shoot them..? I look around @ gunbroker and such, the regular blued ones go for 5-600, sometimes a little more depending on what they are and how bad someone thinks they want it. And then there are sellers who start them out @ 900/ea., not in this economy... I don't have so much in them that they can't spend more time in the safe until things get better out there, and if things don't improve maybe I'll just see if they shoot as good as they look...

Anyone else have any idea of their worth?
