Okey-doke. I glued the wood (some extremely hard, dense stuff) on with Gorilla Glue. Then I rough cut it with a bandsaw and started sanding on my antique table sander. After that I hand sanded it with strips of fine emery paper. When it was the shape I liked, I smoothed up a lot of the imperfections and put a coat of linseed oil on it to seal it somewhat. I didn't do a super job on the handle because it would outshine the sawblade I made it from. Net result: a good knife. All that's left is to make a sheath to protect it and sharpen it the rest of the way. It'll be fun to show it to my father-in-law because he gave me the sawblade and the wood came from some bush he removed from his yard. Here's the pic.

MW,  :)
You Rock!! Have you had a chance to use it? I have looked at them on ebay, at Tandy, and other places, but never could see paying the price they wanted! you did a great job!!! Did you use a 11-12" blade? We talked a long time ago, and you and outrider told me how to make stamps when I didn't have any! I have made a lot of stuff, but never could figure out how to make one of them!
If you have got to use it, and lets say you bought, would it of been worth what you would of paid for one? I thought when I first started they were for saddle makers, then I watch a video today on a guy doing leather work, and it did a great job! So if you get time, I would like to know if it is a good tool to invest in, or is it just a tool that a person could live without?
You did a great job making it!!

Thanks, Ace. I don't have it sharpened properly yet so am not able to advise on how it is to use. The pards that use them really like them. I've done leather for almost 40 years and never used one. Do you need one? That depends on your definition of "need", I guess. Will it be a good thing to invest in? I don't know. I won't know until I've used mine for a while. That won't happen until I get it in gear and sharpen it! ;D

Howdy MW,
If you would, keep me up to date on that, I cannot afford to buy one right now anyway, but if after you have used yours awhile and you feel it is a great tool to own, I might try and make me one! I might even try to get you to scan your pattern and send it to me. And also would like to know the size of blade you used!
I would be much ablidged if you would keep me up to date!
As you all know, I am allways thinking outside the box,  ::) ::) Lets see here, You went 40 years with out one ??? ??? That ought to tell me something ::) ??? ::)

I used an 8-inch blade for it. Any smaller won't really work because it needs to be cut out of one side, avoiding the hole. If you want the pattern, I'd be glad to send it to you. I worked about an hour today on sharpening. I got it convexed on a sander and roughed in with a 200 then a 400 grit stone. The next step is to put a real edge on it.

Howdy MW,
if you don't mind, I will pm you with my email addy and can't you just scan it a 100% and I go off that?
When you get time pm me and tell me, how you want to do it!
I thank you!
