Hey Everybody,

I've got a pair of the new '58 New Model Army Conversions from Taylor's, and I was wondering what needs to be done to them in order to shoot Black Powder?

Would it be opening the cylinder gap to eliminate binding?  If so, what should this gap be?

Anything else?

Thanks in advance.
God forgives, I don't........

I'd say just go and load it with some BP rounds and see what happens.  I'll bet it works just fine.  if it doesn't., then we can trouble-shoot.

Oh, maybe you can clean off all the original oil that it comes with from the dealer.  its not critical IMO, but BP and petroleum products don't co-habitate very well.  After firing use things like soap & water, or moose-milk  (1 part Ballistol & 7 to 10 parts water), or any recognized BP cleaner.  After cleaning, lube with Ballistol or extra virgin olive oil.  I still use my old stock of 103 Lube, not sure if its even made anymore.

Look around, there will be plenty of advice in the offing.
