I see a Sully wool town coat at WW Mechantile I like. But it only shows two buttons on the front. Is this coat even close to being period correct?

Thanks

Coyote;

Did you realize that the Scully Town Coat is 100 % polyester?

Cut wise, it is pretty close.

If you are looking for a reasonably priced sack or cuttaway you may wish to look at the web site below, they offer true wool garments with hand sewn button holes and correct buttons. They make a good product. I'd stay away from Skully / Wah Maker type stuff if you are moving towards authenticity.

Post Edit:
Woops, just noticed that blockade runner is no longer selling their sack or cuttaway. Too bad it was a great value. You may wish to look at Walton and Taylor, great products but hang onto your wallet (over $300). I'd still stay away from the vendors above if you want authenticity, there are other sources out there. Buy right and you buy once.

Thank you Mr. Hunt.

I've been using a true wool frock coat I had bought for my Western style wedding my wife and I had 10 years ago. But they are now 200-300 dollars and I refuse to hit the ground with it. I use it also for my circuit rider for the churches. I've been buying Scully and a few wahmakers and others off the sale racks as I can afford them. I usually end up wearing the shirts more for modern dress up than authentic old west, even though that is what I bought them for.I seem to go back to a basic white period shirt and dark clothes for the reenacting.

Tomorrow I am picking up a 3 piece Sack Suit in an great big plaid which will cost me about $210!  [Sorry that I can't be more precise on the price, but I ordered it at the end of November, with delivery late {cash shortage} and just don't remember.] [CRS] ::) ;D  They have my sizes and I have quite a bit of their clothes.  I am extremely happy with the quality and they use authentic patterns and fabrics.  Got a nice black frock coat for Christmas!  ;D  ;D  Wore it today to the Antique Mall!!

Tell Jean that Dr. Bob sent you and she will treat you right.   :o She would treat you right without the referral, but I like her to know that I am selling for her!  ;D  She's a real good lady & friend, and her husband Del is a great fellow too.

Period correct Coats & Jackets of the Victorian Era should have @ Least 4 buttons to close them w/.
The top button should be in the upper area of the Pectoral region of the chest.
The garments should be made out of all natural material, Wools, Cottons, Silks, etc. or Blends of these materials.
