What do you use to clean your GAF medal.  I have noticed some tarnish on the upper part of the medal.  I was thinking of just using braso but worry about the ribbon part.

Col. Buckshot, Sir - Howdy!

I think the Brasso may be one of your options.  I have a yellow cloth that was made for polishing gold jewelry, but it will also shine silver, brass and copper.  After you get it polished as well as you like you could carefully wrap/tape the ribbon and then spray a coat of clear polyurethane on the brass to keep it nice.  I got the cloth first at a jewelry store that I delivered mail to, but lately I've found it at the 1500 Gunshow when it rolls 'thru Indy.

I understand your concern as the white color on the ribbon will show ANY discoloration if you're not careful.  I have found that the ribbons themselves can be gently washed by hand if they get dirty.

Good luck.
