Will Uberti NMA Hammers Fit Pietta NMA's

Just got a disappointing surprise -- Pietta hammer spurs are shaped differently from Uberti's.  BIG problem for me.

For the New Model Armies, will Uberti hammers fit Piettas?

Flint

Placing one of each together from my parts drawer, the only differences I see are that the Uberti roller is tucked in a little lower and further forward, so the mainspring might not seat right.  The hammer nose of the Uberti has a bit lower "hood", but the striking surface is the same lower down.

The cam and the sear notches seem to be in the same place, and the radius of the tumbler surface seems to be the same.

I haven't actually installed an Uberti hammer in a Pietta, but if you don't have both and need me to try one, I can, and report whether it functions OK, let me know.

I seem to remember trying this and the angle of the striking surface was enough different that it wouldn't work w/o alteration.
If the shape and serration of the Pietta vs. the Uberti is the issue you can use a dremel sanding drum and a small jewelers file (to rechecker) to make them both feel the same. Or I can do it for you. Only takes me a few minutes and oxpho blue and wahlah ;D

Flint,

Thanks for the offer, that would be GREAT!  If it works, I'll get a pair of Uberti hammers from VTI.

Hoof,

That's what I wuz hoping to avoid, but if it comes down to that I'd be grateful for the assistance.  And no bluing is necessary; they're stainless.

Well folks, Flint was true to his word.  He tested the fit and sent me the pics.  Uberti hammers, to all reasonable extents, do NOT fit into Pietta pistols.  They can be made to work, but reshaping the Pietta's hammer spur is a much more reasonable/feasible solution to my problem

Hoof,  I will be contacting you shortly!

Well howdy, Reg Leg!  I'm a Red Leg too, having served with the Second Cherokee Artillery in the Trans-Mississippi Confederacy. (Note the hat cord in my avatar.)

Nope, don't need 'em, but maybe somebody else does...
