Need some ideas for making a range box. I'd like to keep it all wood. Big enough to keep bullets, powder, cleaning stuff, guns.

Thanks!!

What's a range box?  Are you talking about a gun cart?  Would be a heck of a big box to carry around with your handguns, rifle and shotgun in it.

Bryan Austin

Nah, just a range box you might use just to go shoot your BP revolver/s

Here's what I use.

Tupperware box to hold all the miscellaneous junk, with a smaller box to keep the balls from rolling around loose.

I'm interested also to see what you folks have constructed.  I too would like to make a period looking box for powder, bullets, etc.  For the cleaning instruments, I would like to make a roll up pouch.

OAM, I shoot a lot and put a premium on being able to reload quickly so I can help with Posse chores.  The cylinders on my guns are marked so that I always know which is the unloaded chamber and can tell from the rear of the gun.  As soon as I begin loading I pull the cylinder and put it on the stand.  I put an aluminum rod in the "empty" chamber so I know I have the proper chamber left unloaded.  I put in five charges and then put in five balls.  The cylinder is then moved under the rammer and the balls are rammed to the same depth for every chamber.  I ram the ball and rotate the cylinder with the other hand.  Ramming the balls takes less than five seconds.  Hope the pictures help explain the proces..

Pettifogger, what kind of rammer is that? It looks like the best one I've seen.
