first let me state that 21 degrees is not a winter freeze to some of the pards on this here wire.

the blues im talking about are stuck at home and having work canceled today due to frozen roads. ;D
figured i can do some leatherworking today and get caught up with projects. :) ;)
boy was i wrong.  :( :(

brotherinlaw called wanting my help to go rescue his car that he left at work last nite due to not having chains to get home.
yes i went to his work last nite with chains on my 4x4 truck to get him to his house. I-5 freeway was one big ice rink at 10 pm last nite.
the powers to be in oregon decided that chains were required yesterday regardless of what tires you have and what type of car/truck.

so instead of doing leatherworking yesterday and today i played taxie. :( :(

the weather reporters finally got the snow right this time.
usually here in oregon when they say its going to snow on a given day, it dont happen.

and they are saying now that we should see some more snow on wednesday and may be thawing out on sunday after the freezing rain hits on sunday.

so mabey my extended family will get smart and stay home when the next storm hits, and then i can do some catch up.
but i doubt it. i will probably be a taxi service again when the next storm hits. :(

sometimes i wish i lived in a area that gets snow every year this way people will know how to drive in it and their transportiation will be setup for it.

I think we're mostly a bunch of weather wimps in Oregon, excluding you and I! I was thinking of making a trip to Tandy today, because they say by Wednesday we're gonna get dumped on again. As you know, it's not the snow but the ice that gets us in trouble around here.

I can only remember one time in the last 30 years it's been this cold for this long, along with snow. It makes rain and 40 degrees look pretty good.

I've got to get over to your place so you can give me some tips on belts & holsters!

Take care, try to stay warm, since it's suppose to be 11 tonight. JD

 :)howdy knucklehead and J.D.,
My Son lives in Tri City Area of Washington, we were just out there about 6 weeks ago, and he was telling us that they don't get snow were he lives! he emailed last night, and said they had snow and it was going to be around past Christmas!
Now what I can tell, remember I am just 53 years old, but 4 years ago, we started back toward a period in time when, winter was winter here! When I was a kid at age, lets say 6 years old, we allways got snow in the middle of Nov., and usauasly a good snow! it allways got cold and stayed cold, untill the first of march! I lived on a big Farm, and we farmed and raised cattle, we had a double pond with a big whistle and a road over it because a creek ran threw them. But by Christmas you would have to go down every morning and chop ice so the cattle could have a place to drink! The ice was allways 3-5" thick, and I allways wore those green knee high rubber boots. So after I would get the Ice chopped, if it was a weekend or Snow day or Christmas vac. I would spend hours, down there skateing with my rubber boots (that was the life) then sometime around 1970 our winters got less cold.
And we never have had winters like that since, and about 4 years ago we started back to that trend! It hasn't got that bad yet, but for the last 4 years we have gottin more snow and Ice and colder temps. i can't tell you what that means, other than like you, I see changes in our Winter and Summers.
you all have a good day, and I hope Knucklehead you get to go to the shop!

I am a city guy in Nebraska, and of all weeks, I traded a guy this week for my deer hunting week to be on call. Of course it would be -9, snowy, and people dont know enough to insulate their pipes, or run a trickle of water to keep the water flowing. GRrrrrrrrr.
Missed lunch yesterday, and part of supper last night, because folks in trailer houses dont put their siding on, and wonder why their water meters freeze. I really miss the days of getting snowed IN, instead of having to go OUT when the weather hits.  :'(

Keep warm fellas. DM

gimme a hollar any time to come over.

heck if it was raining and 35+ degrees i would still be riding my motorcycle to work.
in fact seen a dummy on a motorcycle yesterday in canby. and the fool does not understand the idea of protective riding gear.
he was wearing tennis shoes and what apeared to nylon sweat pants.
and yes he was riding a rice burner.

Also if your interested there is a polar bear run on jan 1st 09.
as long as there is no ice/snow on the roads i will be braving the weather for this run. its about 90 miles.
Ace,

yep the weather sure has changed around here. i remember hunting back in the 80's in the snow at about 1300 elevation.

Since everyone is taking leave for the hollidays work is so slow right now.
I decided to leave work at lunch so that i can get started back on my leather projects.

will post pics when done

well gotta get back to work on my projects

I've done the last two polar bear runs, and unless it's snowing or we have ice, I'll do this one too. I've got two or three friends I think will go. Year before last it was 36 and raining. You only do this sort of dumb thing to say you've done it! Oh yeah, and to get the T shirt!

I tried getting out to Tandy today. It took me a half hour just to get to the I-5 from Sherwood, and it was bumper to bumper on the 205 North, so I'll try it again tomorrow, assuming we don't get dumped on again. They've got some belt blanks on sale, and my son wants to make belts for some of his friends. I hope he gets interested in leatherwork!

Be careful on that bike!
