THE SUCCESSFUL 2008 SASS CONVENTION COLOUR GUARD

The Grand Army of the Frontier provided the colour guard for the Centennial Ball during the 2008 SASS Convention last weekend at the Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas. This year, more volunteers were recruited so posters were sent forward to serve as side boys. 

The US colours and the GAF regimental flag were carried to the tune of Garryowen. In my humble opinion, the extra practice paid off and the detail looked pretty squared away. The crowd really enjoyed our well dressed fellow GAF members as they marched, wheeled, came to attention  and presented arms for the Pledge of Allegiance and remained at attention of the Star Spangled Banner. and marched out again.

UPS lost the box with the flag carriers and SASS forgot to have a CD player on hand and SASS forgot its flag and left it at Founders Ranch but those glitches were handled before the ceremony as would be expected by the members of our GAF who improvised, adapted and overcame!   :-)
