I am expecting my Cimarron 1876 any day now and I am looking forward to reloading my own bullets.  I am looking for a good bullet mold for 350 grain .458/.459 bullets.  I suspect the molds for the special run of Lyman 457192 are no longer available.  I noticed that Buffalo Arms was selling a mold that appears to be similar.  It is the JIM459350 mold.  Does anyone on this forum have any experience with this particular mold?  According to the decription, it is a copy of the old Ideal 456192, which is the basis for the Lyman 457192.

For what it is worth, I have the 457122HP,  and the 457192 molds.  Have had them for many years.  However, I made a photocopy of the 457192 mold and sent it to Hoch Custom molds down in Roswell NM.  I told them that I wanted a copy of that mold that would weigh in at 350 grains using 20:1 alloy.  It took awhile but when I got that mold, it cast a perfect 350 grains at 0.459 with that alloy--just what I wanted.  Using a 16:1 alloy, which is what the old timers used, I can get a cast weight of damn near that same weight.  I am partial to Hoch molds even though they are rather spendy.  I also have one for my 40-82 and one for my 33 Winchester.  All cast as specified.  The 40-82 mold is a gas check mold.  All are nose pour.

Now i don't know if this is of any help but it may be information that you can use. ;)

That is very helpful.  How do these bullets perform in your rifle?

CavSoldier ... send Lou Sellman an email.  I heard that he ordered more of the 457192 molds ... http://www.cascity.com/forumhall/index.php/topic,17913.0.html  There is a good possibility he has one - With Your Name on It! ;D

Thanks John Boy.  I sent Lou an email and he responded that he did have at least one in stock.  I have a check on the way to him now.

I just picked up my Cimarron 1876 in 45-75 yesterday evening.  I cannot wait to play with it tonight and take it out to the range.
