Does anybody know if a remmie 58 hammer would work on a Rogers and Spencer revolver?I wonder why the Rogers have such a high hammer...

They could very well exchange if they are from the same manufacturer. The reason for the high hammer on the Rogers & Spencer is because that was how they were made, Just like the beals, and the Colts of the era.

I have some extra hammers from Piettas and maybe a ASP (Euroarms). I would have to double check to see if I have a Uberti. If you want to trace the "nekked" hammer or maybe scan it directly then I could compare. I would be willing to trade if it will work in a New Model Army.

The guts of a Rogers & Spencer Army & of a Remington-Beals, a '61 Remington & a '63 N.M.A. are completely different, as they are based on Two completely different designs, from Two completely different manufacturers. :-[

It was the Style of Cocking & Shooting that was done back then. One brought one Pistole muzzle pointing up towards the sky by bending ones elbow, then Hooking the crook of ones Thumb around the Hammer Spur & brought it down sharply using the weight of the pistole & the strength of the thumb muscle to cock it, gaining a Natural Point of Aim @ the end of this method of Cocking. Hence the term that came about because of practice of, "Throwing Lead". 8)
