Just wonderin' what spare parts you'll suggest I get hold of for a Marlin 1894C.  I've got two of them in .357 and if push ever came to shove in this country, they'd be my "go to" weapons.  What would you suggest I get that may be the most vulnerable parts of these guns?

If your model is the same as my .44mag Marlin, then all you might need would be the ejector springs and a one-piece firing pin from Evil Roy's Shooting School parts dept.
The rest of the rifle is pretty much "bullet proof"

I pretty much agree.  Lets say I was gonna go on an extended wilderness camping trip with an 1894 as only firearm, I'd FIRST replace the firing pin with a one piece pin of STEEL (not Titanium)

(disclaimer:  I sell em, but so do a lotta other folks.  Most of us selling the "Longhunter" fp and spring kit), replace the mainspring, and in my kit, I'd take along a spare FP and a spare ejector.  I'd also most certainly do the preventative "fix" to the cam on the lever to prevent the carrier being beat to death, (the infamous Marlin jam).  The two parts, FP and ejector COULD conceivably be stored in a cavity drilled into the buttstock, covered by the buttplate.  Oh, make sure ya also have a good screwdriver handle and the "gun specific" bits for the Marlin (Brownells has them, worth every penny) in yer kit.

I appreciate those responses!  Jack, I like your idea of a utilizing a cavity in the buttstock for simple spare parts...I currently have a Boy Scout firesteel and striker with a couple of sealed up vaseline cottonballs stored in the existing cavity of all my rifles.  I figure if I get lost or injured, at least I can start a warming fire to survive with when I'm out woodswalkin' (which is most weekends the better half "allows" me to...) ;D
