They look best with one piece grips.  I start with a center block the width of the gripframe and glue the sides on one at a time.  Make sure you put a release on the metal so you can get the grips off after gluing.

I agree with Flint 100%. I have never seen an original with two piece grips with a screw through the middle. Colt actually never produced any two piece grips until the 1880's and that was in Bakelite for the SAA.

Angel_Eyes

Have to agree about the one piece grips, they will look period.
Not sure I'm very keen on the look of that fully fluted cylinder, so if you will just post it over to me so I can inspect it closely, I would be very grateful!!!(Hur hur hur)

Hey Allybam, I agree, lets get back to the pistol. When did you say you were shipping it over????
The more I look at it the more I'm not sure about it, reeeeely need a closer look!!
Will you be doing anything mechanical to it or is it ready to smoke?

Bakelite wasn't developed until about 1908.  Gutta percha, now...that's another matter.  ;)

Nice gun......nice choice.

It's always GREAT to see a fellow shooter capable of doing his own work, the way he wants.

It's a shame that some here would be so critical and self centered as to think it is their place to govern your opinions :-[ (yes I am embarassed to be associated)

Alabama, I apologise, unreservedly. I didn't realise it was THE VOICES.

QuoteHey didn't I see some PHONY IVORY grips on one of Kids guns ? Hmmmmm?  I think it was an Italian gun too ! Hmmmm?

A few people simply voiced their opinions and now you have begun to insult people. That won't go here. No one has insulted you nor your work. They simply said they preferred the one piece style as it is historically correct.  Hoof Hearted was warned a few times in SCORRS for insulting people in the past and obviously has not learned. Word to the wise.  ;)

To Fox Creek Kid,
considering that Alabama was lambasting ME for my opinion, I don't see that gives you the right to step into our cross-Atlantic discussion on the subject of HIM being a stubborn jack-ass when it comes to what he can do to his own pistol.

There you go 'Bama, did'nt know you had a reverse gear did you? ( I just backed you up, heeheehee!).

Alabama quit (completely removed himself as a user) from the CAS-L group. Here is a quote from his last communicae with me, "he's a handfull and almsot always critical of anything I post . Oh well . Resident #@$%& (edited by me), okeedokkeeee , I can deal with that , but cut me some slack I just try to help out around here and sometimes I feel like I don't belong........"
