You guys told me, that Black Powder reloading would be a whole new game, and you all were right!
Okay, at the 25 yard target we got it to shoot a decent group.
here is the details : Sharps rifle 28" barrel , 57 grains of FFG dropped down 24" drop tube, 60thou fiber wad, bullet is 500 gr spear point, lubed with sfg, and sized 459, no crip and seated 1/8" pushed by hand. Shooting pure lead bulletts!

Moved to the 100 yard target and it shot all over the place!, at the end of the 20 rounds I had left loaded it was shooting better!
A friend gave me 100 405gr sized 457 and gas checked, i don't know wheter to test them or not.

Is there a chance that the pure lead bullets could be deforming, could I add some wheel wieghts that I have in ingots and plend with pure lead, if so, what would be a good combo!

Also, I might need to tighten the trigger pull up a little, the sec you pad of your finger touches it, she goes!!

I am sorry for jumping in here and ask all the dumb questions, I have several books, and they all say the same, you have to see what your fifle likes!

I will be very great full for any and all help!

Ace, are you cleaning your barrel between shots or is the fouling hardening up and causing the problem.
One of the tricks I learned was to get an old or split case, drill out the primer pocket, braze a spigot on the case head for a plastic tube to fit over, about 15" long.
Insert the case into the breech and breath through it between shots.
Your moist breath keeps the fouling soft enough so you don't have to clean the bore so often. ( One of our comps calls for 10 consecutive shots without cleaning.)
I'm afraid the loads you use will have to be trial and error as your friends are correct and you will find that each rifle will have it's own favorite load that suits it.
My best 100yd load was 53gr. ffg with a 550gr. Postell bullet seated right on the powder with enough crimp to hold the bullet in the case.

Best of luck, UKshooter.
Trouble is...when I'm paid to do a job, I always carry it through. (Angel Eyes, The Good, The Bad & The Ugly)

Hey, Ace - Howdy!

It sounds like you've got things right.  If you're "blowing" the barrel already, You're doing well.

By all means, try those gas checked bullets!  Free is good!  Besides if you want to try a smokeyless load (perish the thought) those are the rounds to use!

From your load recipe, the only suggestion I can make is MORE LUBE!

Call me.  I have a quick suggestion.
