AC and JD, Thanks for the comments. You two are the ones that reminded me that practice is the way to go so these little small projects are a great way to practice and try out different things.

WC, is their a reason you haven't done a large sheath this way?

Howdy GB,
Beautiful lookin' Knife & Sheath! The Sheath really compliments the Knife. Cool handle!

Howdy AC,
You are getting to be a real Pro at carving. You sure are correct about the practice aspect of Leather Working

Howdy Ned,
Great job on your Slide! That is a neat & functional design coupled with excellent workmanship.

Many thanks to you Gents for sharing your fine work and talents with us.

:) Thanks for the comments JD, Boothill, CW, Ned and Johnny.  There is a lot to learn in this craft, but I can enjoy it even in my limited space and lifestyle.  I couldn't do that with woodworking, as it needed a large man cave to be efficient.  I have a storage area full of woodworking tools.  Thanks again for everyone's support.

Here is the finished project.  Thats a lot of lacing.  The next one is a Purse for my daughter in law, has three times as much lacing.  At least your fingers don't hurt from sewing.

Thank Rick, Ned its mindless once you get started, the hardest thing is the length of the lace and those darn needles that just don't seem to want to stay attached to the lacing.  Maybe I am doing something wrong.  I skive the end and attach the needle with the prongs going into the finished side of the lace, but they still break off.

Only reason is all the large knives have had full guards.

I kept reading "Nice slide Ned" and wondering what they were talking about. I finally went back and realized it slipped right past me. Now I can say "Nice slide Ned!"

That sure is excellent workmanship, and the brass shells make it look extra sharp. It's hard to tell from the picture; how are the shells being supported in the slide? I can't tell if there is leather underneath them or not. Is that a continuous weave, tacked at either end with fancy headed Chicago screws?

Thanks for sharing inspiring work Ned.
