GB now thats FIRST class , great layout and design.   I,m very proud of what u did with the spots and conchos. Thank You KT

Well, another learning experience here. I'm posting this for two reasons. #1 just to indicate I'm actually doing something leather wise, and #2 for an honest critique.  The stamping is too busy IMO, but until you do something, it's hard to know for sure, and I don't mind the practice on all aspects of holster making.

I debated on what to do about attaching the body to the flap. I thought about a separate keeper strap, but for some reason that escapes me now decided against it. I laid a pre-cut strap down to get an idea of the shape I wanted for the loop. It looked good lying flat, but now so good now. It looks off centered to me; not a great deal, but a little.

On a positive note I'm fairly happy with the stitching and the main seam line, both of which have caused me problems in the past.

I was short on dye, so I mixed some dark brown with light brown and got mud! In this picture there is no oil or anything else. I dyed it last night.

Fire away!

Helda!!! Ya made it!

JD, I personally think that stamping is great. Not busy at all. Just looks like a little bit of lace.
Color wise, oil it up, and it will look good.
Strap wise, I agree. It seems a little offcenter. Maybe if the point was a little more aligned towards the barrel?

Good work!

Wow Helda, that is fantastic work! Let's see some more :D

Dalton, I'm not exactly sure how to line one of thse out so it looks right once the gun is in it. I guess I will mess with another one, a lefty to to make a pair see if I can get it right next time.

Dalton & Slick, thanks for the comments, JD

JD, IMHO the stamping looks just right. You have good clean lines on the holster and it looks like it was well thought out.  As far as he color goes I like it. Now if you want to see mud ya oughta see some of mine that I am to ashamed to even throw away :o :-[ :-X   I gotta be honest with you centering that type of strap is what has kept me from making that style.

Miss Helda, I would go blind trying to lay down that pattern :o ;) ;D Beautiful work

Thanks to you all for you comments on the straps. I do appreciate them.

WC, that rig is SCARY Clean!

That is a level of cutting, sewing & dying I can't even imagine being at.

Thanks for sharing those great photos.

Can you tell me how that strap is attached in the back? I'm still trying to work out the best way to do that aspect of building a holster. I like that look. Would it be considered a "Spaghetti Western" ?

Thanks,JD

Thank you for the kind words.
I di not dye it. I use a black dbl shoulder from Tandy. Nice hide.
The strap is just run through 2 bag punch slots in the skirt. One on each side of the holster.

Thank you for the kind words on the black rig. I normally don't like to do plain rigs but I like this one.

I learn so much from this forum, and so much from you WC, it is so cool. I did not know Tandy had such things, and it is indeed a nice piece of leather. Since you make the strap, I assume you just pull it through to where to you it, then cut and punch accordingly I am going to have to give that a try. Thanks for that explaination. JD
