Okay, heres the results of my carving and beveling class today, also did a coaster wid a flower on it .

Gave the flower to my Wife fer Valintines day. ::)  Cheap? heck no, took me 2 hrs. to get it done. ;D

Here's the sample I made up for a slim jim holster, havent dyed it yet, what color do Y'all think? ::)

Slick :)

Here's an update on my practice pattern. I reworked the beveling and added some, learned how to walk, no excuses.

Slick, it looks good to me, but I imagine you will hear someone say to make the swivel knife cuts deeper. Making those puppies deep enough is a real challenge as far as I'm concerned.

WC, let me make sure I understand you ('Cause I'm guessing I don't)

Do I wet the leather real good then dye it, or dye it, then wet it down real good and let it dry before doing anyting else to it.

Or, none of the above? Thanks very much, JD

MS,

Very nice carving, beautiful work. I like the band around the middle of the design. Very sharp!!

JD,

Very nice, simple to-the-point, good quality work. That's one of those holsters that says "I don't have to be beautiful, I just gotta be dangerous!"

Very impressive stuff. I gotta get some work done, but I've been tied up over the past couple of weeks and haven't got squat done. I'm gonna have to kick myself in the butt and get to work to catch up.

Howdy JD,
Great job on the 1911 Holster! The workmanship, stitching and color are very nice.

Howdy MS,
Your carving looks very nice. Looks like your class is really paying off.
You need to learn to like all the little everday things like a sip of good whiskey, a soft bed, a glass of buttermilk,  and a feisty old gentleman like myself

MS your gettin it on the carving, a class was what I needed to get started carving.  The holster will look great.

JD, wow, that holster looks fantastic.  You have done a great job.  Your customer will be really lucky to get that one.

Thanks Pards for yer encouragement and support and the class was full of experts and lots of help.

I had a scrap of leather for the project, was thin so I went as deep as I dared.Strapped the new blade and what a difference from the old ruby blade...WOW ::)

Next month were doing a horses head, now that will make my Sister happy. :)

Thanks,

MS

AC, yer did good, nice from one end to the other, you have talent.

Thanks M.Will,
I dyed the leather piece and tried a new way of applying the dye.

Someone mentioned mixing the dye with EEVO, I mixed my Timber Brown with it and it came out fantastic.

I'll seal it with some Skidmores like JD mentioned and Johnny sent me the web site.
Hey I'm in the groove  ::)
