WC, that's a very impressive sheath. I don't recognize that stamp, but it's a good looking one

Josh, looking for flaws in WC's work is a lost cause. When I was in his shop earlier this year I had an opportunity to handle a lot of the leather goods he has made. I'll tell you what, there was not a single flaw on anything I looked at. I wish he would post some of his stuff, like his luggage, complete with a space on the outside for cowboy boots, way cool. He made a pair of saddle bags that are mind blowing.

10 Wolves, being a friend of WC's and frequent visitor to the shop-retail leather store can back up what I'm saying; I met him while at the shop too. Visiting WC's shop and meeting WC, 10 Wolves, and Sandi was the highlight of my trip to LA this summer.

Howdy All
Thank you for the kind words.

I think it's time to have those glasses rechecked. :) My work has lots of flaws but that is what handmade is all about. I am not perfect. That stamp is hard to run and it did start out running off to he right but I managed to pull it back half way up.
I am looking at getting the new version of the stamp, the inside curves are scalloped to match the top so you don't cut off the top scallops.

The stamp is a shell stamp from Hackbarth.

FEATHERS

G'Day Chuck,I really like your holster, what jumps out for me,I have a book on the story of leather carving, the book states that carving is a version of the engraving that was done on the Spanish Conquistidores armour,& in the examples in the book you can see how they relate to the carvings on holsters & saddles & such.Feathers

I stand by my assessment of your work WC, although I'm sure that you, being the maker, know where the "flaws" are, and I respect that. The stamp is very cool. Is it kosher on the forum to ask what, if any stamps you might carry in your shop, Standing Bear's Trading Post besides the current crop of Craftools?

Chuck my friend you have outdone yourself again!!! Fellas I am the lucky owner of that rig. I asked Chuck to make a close copy of one that was featured in Dennis Adlers book Metallic Cartridge Conversions. Chuck got VERY close to the original. We had a few changes in mind before he started. He incorporated those into the design beautifully. Thank you again Chuck I can't wait for it to get here. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

A lot of the old west ideas I have seen on this site and a few others, I have seen on Chuck Burrows website years ago.
I know Chucks website has been an inspiration for many of us and I appreciate him sharing his ideas and techniques.
Thanks again Chuck.

Chuck, that is a beautiful rig. I don't know how else to describe it. You have finally drawn me over to the aged look with that one. That is definitely museum quality.

Howdy WC,

Great job of stamping on your sheath! I'd sure call that perfect in my book. Thank you for sharing your talents and expertise with us

I'm taking classes in Carving. Our first class was how to use a Swivel Knife. Here is a practice Holster I just finished. It was immersed in my latest batch of Walnut dye for approx. seven hours. It has two coats of Neet's and one coat of Skidmore's.

Thank you very much.
As Standing Bear taught when beading there was only one perfect person, doesn't matter if you call him "The Great Spirit" or whatever.
I only stock Craftool and a small amount of Barry King's tools.

Nice rig, Kid. I like that belt. It looks like it would be very comfortable. That sheath with all the spots is a classy one. It's really one to be proud of.

Dave, that knive and sheath are really something. Very good work, there. Thanks for sharing.

More beautiful work, Chuck. I really like the first sheath. The beadwork on that one is spectacular.

That sheath is beautiful, WC. I really love that stamp. That makes a very pleasant pattern.
